The Damian Lillard sweepstakes were intriguing.
Despite the Toronto Raptors being the frontrunner for Damian Lillard and the Miami Heat being his preferred destination, it was the Milwaukee Bucks who ultimately landed the All-Star guard.
However, one of the rumored teams in on the Damian Lillard sweepstakes was the Toronto Raptors. Bobby Wesbter recently said in an interview that the Raptors were ‘very aggressive’ in their pursuit:
Bobby Webster said in an interview that the Raptors were “very aggressive” in trying to get Lillard and they put their biggest offer they’ve ever made for a player on the table

Hearing Webster say he put forth the ‘biggest offer’ for Lillard is interesting because the Raptors didn’t offer Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes or O.G. Anunoby. Therefore what did the offer look like?
Also, the biggest question was if Lillard was traded to the Raptors, would he want to play for the team?
It seems that Lillard not wanting to play for Toronto ended up being the deal breaker for the Raptors. After missing out on the 33-year-old guard and the consolation prize of Jrue Holiday who got traded to the Boston Celtics, Bobby Webster and Masai Ujiri will now focus on this upcoming season. They have to decide which direction they want to take with the Raptors.
No progress on a Pascal Siakam extension
The next pressing issue for the Raptors is what they will do with Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby this season. Will the Raptors re-sign them or trade them?
Siakam is in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. But, as of right now there has been no progress on a potential extension for him to stay in Toronto.
It’ll be interesting to see how this season plays out for the Raptors and what they ultimately do with Pascal Siakam.
