Bruce Brown is eager to return to action.
The 28-year-old had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in later September. This has kept him sidelined for the entire season thus far.
Brown has been reconditioning and he is expected to play at some point during the Raptors upcoming four-game road trip, per Sportsnet’s Michael Grange.
Brown’s future with the team is uncertain and there was even talk about him not looking like his old self when he played with the Raptors last season.
The veteran explained why he didn’t have that same energy, via Sportsnet’s Savanna Hamilton.
“Last year I didn’t look really engaged or not a lot of energy like I [had] on previous teams. It’s just because I was playing on one leg. So I want that to be addressed because I know a lot of fans didn’t think I played with a lot of energy and I didn’t want to be here,” Brown said. “That’s what I’ve seen on social media. But I do want to be here. I want to play with these guys… I was literally playing on one leg so it was tough for me mentally – that I couldn’t move the way I wanted to.”
Brown was asked why he didn’t stop to evaluate his knee sooner, but the team’s injury situation made it tough for him.
“We had so many guys out. That’s just not how I’m built. Like if I can go out there and play, I can go out there and play. So if I can push through it- it was tough – [and] obviously it didn’t look good some of the times. I didn’t perform the way I was supposed to,” he said.
Brown is still a quality player and him returning to the mix will surely help the Raptors and strengthen their second unit.
“Just wait and see. I’m ready to hoop,” Brown said.
