Vince Carter is joining the Sportsnet broadcast.
The Toronto Raptors legend will be part of Sportsnet’s Raptors coverage for this season and will appear in select games, Sportsnet announced.
Carter will be on the Raptors season opener broadcast on Oct. 23 against the Cleveland Cavaliers and will periodically join Matt Devlin and Alvin Williams during broadcasts throughout the season.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the Sportsnet family for select games during the 2024-25 season. My NBA roots started with the Raptors and the relationships I forged with former teammates like Alvin Williams. It is humbling to have the opportunity to come back — I am truly looking forward to being a part of the broadcasts,” Carter said in a press release.
The Raptors will be honoring Carter as they will retire his No. 15 jersey on Nov. 2 against the Sacramento Kings. Carter will officially become the first player in Raptors franchise history to have his jersey retired.
Recently, the 47-year-old was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as he entered the Hall as a member of the Raptors organization.
Carter spent six and a half seasons of his career in Toronto. He put the Raptors on the map and earned five All-Star game appearances. He also led Toronto to its first-ever playoff berth and playoff series win.
Carter was traded by the Raptors in 2004 to the New Jersey Nets. This deal has been dubbed the worst trade in franchise history. Since then Raptors fans booed Carter every time he returned to Toronto.
However, as time passed fans quickly grew to forgive Carter. Now, he will be calling some Raptors games this season.
