The Toronto Raptors have made another signing to finalize their training camp roster.
Toronto has reportedly signed Jahmi’us Ramsey to a non-guaranteed minimum contract for next season, per Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy.
This deal gives the Raptors a full roster of 21 players before the start of training camp on Oct. 1.
Ramsey is back with the Raptors after he signed a pair of 10-day contracts with Toronto last season. The 6-foot-3 guard appeared in seven games with Toronto averaging 6.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He was solid in his brief stint, but the Raptors went in a different direction after his second contract expired.
Ramsey appeared in 32 games last season in the G League. That’s where he averaged 20.5 points, 3.6 assists and 7.8 rebounds while shooting 40.1 percent from deep. He appeared in two G League games with the Raptors 905 last season.
The 23-year-old will head into training camp competing with Bruno Fernando for Toronto’s final roster spot this season. Ramsey and Fernando are both on standard non-guaranteed minimum contracts heading into camp.
Toronto could use another backup big man so Fernando could have an easier path to making the roster. However, the Raptors bringing back Ramsey suggests they are impressed with him.
The Raptors currently have one Exhibit 10 spot available ahead of training camp.
High-ranking Raptors members wanted Kyle Lowry’s jersey retired first
The Toronto Raptors announced they will honor Vince Carter this season.
Toronto will retire Carter’s No. 15 jersey on Nov. 2 when the Sacramento Kings come to Scotiabank Arena.
While many people agree that Carter deserves this honor, there were some high-ranking members of the Raptors who thought Kyle Lowry’s jersey should’ve been retired first by the franchise, according to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.
