Toronto Raptors rookie Jonathan Mogbo reportedly has a new shoe deal.
Mogbo announced his partnership with Serious Player Only, becoming the first NBA player to sign with the shoe company, per Boardroom.
Mogbo was selected by the Raptors with the No. 31 pick the 2024 NBA Draft. He’s a 6-foot-6 power forward with strong ball-handling skills and good playmaking abilities for his size. Mogbo averaged 14.2 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game for the San Francisco Dons this past season. He proved to be a versatile defender and offensive player. Mogbo will need to work on his three-point shooting after failing to make a single three-pointer in his two-year Division I collegiate career.
Mogbo will likely begin the season with the Raptors out of the rotation. The 22-year-old will have plenty of time to develop him game with Raptors 905.
Mogbo is currently the only Raptors player wearing a shoe that isn’t from a big shoe company. Players such as Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley will be wearing Nikes this season. Gradey Dick has a partnership with Adidas and RJ Barrett along with Chris Boucher are partnered up with Puma.
Fred VanVleet was the last Raptors player who signed a deal with a non-mainstream shoe company. He wore Li-Ning shoes during his time in Toronto.
Former NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo previously wore the Serious Player Only “Player 1” shoes.
