Former Toronto Raptors center Precious Achiuwa seems to be enjoying his offseason.
After re-signing with the New York Knicks on a one-year, $6 million contract, he is enjoying the rest of his summer.
Recently, Achiuwa posted a video on Instagram of him walking with two lions, making for an iconic post:
His former teammate Scottie Barnes commented under the post saying, “woah dude” with a laughing emoji to illustrate how absurd Achiuwa’s post is.
The former Raptors big man was moved in a blockbuster trade that sent him, O.G. Anunoby and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and the Detroit Pistons’ 2024 second-round pick, which ended up becoming Jonathan Mogbo.
Since moving to New York, Achiuwa had some spurts of good play, but head coach Tom Thibodeau is known for his tight rotations. This resulted in limited playing for Achiuwa once the playoffs started.
All in all, it looks like Achiuwa is enjoying his life. After experiencing some struggles in terms of production and finding a consistent role, perhaps the tide is turning.
To now play for a contending Eastern Conference team in the Knicks, Achiuwa gets an opportunity to carve out a role with Isaiah Hartenstein gone.
In addition to Mitchell Robinson experiencing injury issues throughout his career, the 24-year-old seriously has a chance to be a quality backup or even start some games this upcoming season.
Knicks’ Precious Achiuwa shines in return to Toronto
March 27 featured Anunoby’s return to Scotiabank Arena, but he was unfortunately ruled out with an elbow injury.
However, Achiuwa made his return to Toronto too, putting up an impressive performance. In 27 minutes, the former Raptor put up 19 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks on 8-for-13 shooting from the field.
