The Toronto Raptors gear up for the 2024 NBA Draft on June 26 and 27.
Toronto will have a chance to add some solid young prospects with picks No. 19 and No. 31.
The Raptors have many needs to address, one of which is shooting.
The Raptors were one of the worst three-point shooting teams last season and the goal for this offseason should be to add more shooting around Scottie Barnes.
Gary Parrish of CBS Sports released his latest mock draft and he has the Raptors taking Johnny Furphy out of Kansas at No. 19:
“Toronto ranked 27th out of 30 NBA teams in 3-point field-goal percentage this season, which is something Furphy could improve in time. The one-and-done guard is young and a work in progress after only becoming a starter midseason at Kansas. But he’s undeniably talented and a logical option for a Toronto franchise rebuilding.”
Furphy is a long, lean and smooth shooting guard from Australia who has a great jump shot. At 6-9 he towers over most guards and can see over the defense to get his shot off.
His best NBA skill right now is his three-point shooting ability. He also has good court vision and understanding of how to keep the ball moving.
Furphy finished his freshman season at Kansas with 47/35/76 shooting splits, while averaging 9 points and 5 rebounds per game.
He’ll have to add strength and improve his defensive game, but he’s already a very capable defender who’s shown some nice flashes.
The Raptors drafted Gradey Dick in last year’s draft and they could elect to go with another Jayhawk this year as well.
Raptors take Tristan Da Silva in Yahoo Sports’ latest mock draft
The Raptors have held workouts with many prospects as they begin to narrow down their selections.
In Yahoo Sports’ latest mock draft, Krysten Peek has the Raptors going with a more mature player in Tristian Da Silva at No. 19.
