The 2024 NBA Draft is set for June 26 and 27.
The Toronto Raptors will have picks No. 19 and No. 31 as the team looks to add more young talent.
There have been many mock drafts speculating who the Raptors will take with their first-round pick.
The Raptors have a need for some guard and frontcourt depth. Therefore, it seems likely they will take one or the other with their first pick.
Ricky O’Donnell of SB Nation recently listed the ‘perfect’ draft pick for every NBA team and he has the Raptors going with a big man.
He has Toronto selecting Yves Missi out of Baylor with their 19th pick:
“The Raptors need high upside talent as they start a rebuild around Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley, and Missi is the highest upside pick left on the board to me. Missi just started playing the game a few years ago, but it’s hard to find bigs this fluid athletically. He’s going to protect the rim defensively, and slam home feeds from the dunkers spot and off lobs to start his career. He also showed some comfort attacking the rim off the dribble. With a late pick in a weak draft, getting someone as big and athletic as Missi would be a nice value.”
As a freshman Missi started in 32 games and averaged 10.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 23 minutes of action per night. He made the Big 12 All-Defense team.
The 20-year-old has the tools that can make him an elite shot blocker and rim runner in the NBA. He could develop into a capable starting defensive center for Toronto.
Missi at No. 19 would be a solid choice for the Raptors.
