The 2024 NBA Draft is fast approaching for the Toronto Raptors.
They will have to make a decision about who they want to take in the first-round with their No. 19 pick.
There have been many prospects linked to the Raptors over the past couple of weeks that make a lot of sense for Toronto’s new direction.
One player who has been mentioned as a potential pick for Toronto is Kyshawn George out of Miami.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo put out their latest mock draft and Givony has the Raptors taking the wing:
“The Raptors were one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the NBA last season, both in terms of 3-point makes and accuracy, and will need to continue to surround Scottie Barnes with enough floor spacing to keep opposing defenses honest.
George (6-8 and 205 pounds) is the type of oversized, long-armed wing this Raptors front office often covets, making 41% of his attempts at Miami. Ranked No. 19 in ESPN’s Top 100, George still has plenty of upside to grow into thanks to his feel for the game, playmaking and the unique developmental trajectory he’s on, having grown 9 inches in the past five years.”
In 2023-24, George averaged 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.4 blocks and 0.9 steals per game. He shot 42.6 percent from the field, 40.8 percent from three and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. George’s best skill is his shooting. He is proficient at both pull-up jumpers and catching and shooting. His shooting alone would be a major boost for the Raptors.
George possesses great size as a wing and has the skills to be a versatile swingman. George is also strong defensively with long reach. He has a lot of upside which makes him a compelling choice at No. 19.
Kel’el Ware scheduled to workout for Toronto
Another prospect the Raptors have their eyes on is big man Kel’el Ware out of Indiana.
The Raptors are expected to workout Ware in the coming days.
