Former Toronto Raptors forward Juancho Hernangomez has won a Euroleague title.
After his final stint in the NBA coming in Toronto, he went overseas to continue his basketball career. He won a championship on May 26 as Panathinaikos defeated Real Madrid 95-80 in a one-game final.
In 19 minutes, the former Raptor put up 5 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. Hernangomez was not the only former NBA player on the team as Kendrick Nunn, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Jerian Grant and Kyle Guy were on the roster as well.
This is the third major accomplishment for Hernangomez as he won the 2019 World Cup and 2022 Eurobasket with the Spanish national team. A video surfaced of the forward sitting alongside the Euroleague trophy following Sunday’s win:
Hernangomez played a total of 339 games in the NBA, averaging 5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists on 42.8 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three. During his time in Toronto, he averaged 2.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 42 games for the Raptors during the 2022-23 season.
Unfortunately, he was waived to make room for Will Barton off the buyout market.
Hernangomez starred in a Netflix film ‘Hustle’ along with Adam Sandler and Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.
While he may not have panned out at the NBA level, it is great to see Hernangomez have success overseas.
