The Toronto Raptors moved on from O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam this season to embrace a rebuild.
Both of them were able to go to playoff teams in the Eastern Conference. Anunoby going to the New York Knicks and Siakam going to the Indiana Pacers.
Those two want to win and Toronto was simply unable to find the winning formula. It is great to see beloved former Raptors players play meaningful postseason basketball.
For the first time, Siakam and Anunoby are set to face off against each other. The Knicks and Pacers are playing for the right to get to the Eastern Conference Finals, which is expected to be an exciting series.
Leading up to Game 1 tonight, Anunoby weighed in on playing against Siakam, via Zach Braziller of The New York Post:
“Yeah, it’ll be weird. I never played against him. He’s always been my teammate, so it’ll be weird, but it’ll be cool, I’m sure. He’s looking forward to it, too.”
Both Anunoby and Siakam were part of the 2018-19 title team. It makes for an interesting storyline as the two players will certainly matchup against each other during parts of the series.
Specifically for Anunoby, who is the Knicks’ best perimeter defender. It is very likely that head coach Tom Thibodeau will have him guard Siakam.
It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Scottie Barnes is excited to watch Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby square off in playoffs
An interesting wrinkle to this story is Scottie Barnes, who is currently navigating through the offseason. However, he is still keeping up with his former teammates.
As the Knicks and Pacers series kicks off, Barnes admitted he is excited to watch Siakam and Anunoby square off.
