The Toronto Raptors have secured the sixth-worst record in the NBA following their loss to the Miami Heat.
This means Toronto will have the sixth-best odds going into the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery on May 12.
The Raptors will have a 45.8 percent chance of keeping their 2024 first-round pick which is top-6 protected.
They will have a 37.2 percent chance of moving into the top-4 and a 9 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick.
There is a 54.2 percent chance that the pick for the Raptors falls outside of the top-6 and if that happens it would go to the San Antonio Spurs, via the Jakob Poeltl trade.
If the Spurs do not get Toronto’s pick for this upcoming draft then it will roll over to the 2025 NBA Draft with the same top-6 protection. If the pick is still not conveyed in 2025 or 2026, then it would become two second-rounders in 2027.
This season has not gone to plan for the Raptors. They made big changes trading away O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam.
Even though the team was struggling they made it clear that they were not going to pack it in. They came out of the All-Star break 3-0 and were looking to make a Play-In Tournament push. However, injuries struck as Scottie Barnes and Jakob Poeltl went down. Then RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley missed time as well.
The season then fell apart for the Raptors as they endured a 15-game losing streak and lost 18 of their last 20 games.
Raptors’ draft selections
Toronto will have up to three picks in this upcoming draft to try and turn things around. Their own first-round pick, the Indiana Pacers first-round pick via the Siakam trade which is projected to be No. 17 and the Detroit Pistons second-round pick via the Anunoby deal which is projected to be No. 31.
The Raptors will need a strong draft to put them back on track.
