RJ Barrett is coming off a solid performance against the Miami Heat.
Despite the loss, he put up 35 points on a very efficient 13-18 shooting from the field. He also had a season-high 11 rebounds.
Barrett has scored 20 or more points in seven straight games.
Ever since Barrett came to Toronto via the O.G. Anunoby trade he has looked comfortable in his new role. He has showcased a new-found aggressiveness and has been consistent with his production.
Barrett is one of the core pieces the Raptors aim to build around. The 23-year-old is still scratching the surface on his potential.
Barrett was asked about his time in Toronto so far via the TSN broadcast:
“I’m having a lot of fun. Just being here, playing here, just everything in general, whole organization, it’s bigger than basketball for me. I have really enjoyed my time here so far, obviously hope to be here for a very long time. And to see the guys…especially our core guys have been able to play together a little bit, seeing some of the success we’ve had, some of things we need to get better at. Looking forward to getting into the summer and working with those guys and coming back stronger next season.
He was also asked what the team needs to get better at going into next season
“We just need more reps. We need reps, we need a training camp, we need time to gel together and continue to learn each other because I feel like once we have our time and figure it out we’ll be really good.”
Barrett seems optimistic that the Raptors will be able to figure things out.
Raptors look to bounce back
There is clearly a lot of work that needs to be done for the Raptors to turn things around.
However if Barrett, Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley continue to grow the Raptors will have a strong foundation moving forward.
