There is a lot of pressure for the Toronto Raptors to bounce back after a disappointing 2022-23 season.
Now sitting at 10-15, the Raptors are in an odd spot. With the way things are going right now, signs are pointing to Toronto making moves at the trade deadline or earlier.
O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam are set to become unrestricted free agents next summer. Both found themselves in heavy trade rumors in the offseason and now those are firing back up once again.
Due to the amount of rumors in the past year, it would make sense for the Raptors to finally pull the trigger. Time is dwindling on this core and it is time for Masai Ujiri to be proactive.
Many teams have been rumored to be interested in Anunoby and Siakam and now another one has emerged. That being the Detroit Pistons, via James L. Edwards of The Athletic:
“League sources tell The Athletic that Detroit is expected to be active in the trade market over the next few weeks and are eying a forward. One player I’m hearing that the Pistons are interested in, as is the rest of the league, is Toronto’s OG Anunoby.”
Detroit has been a rebuilding team for several seasons now and their fans are wanting results. They’re currently on a 23-game losing streak and the Pistons need some sort of hope to instill into the fanbase.
Due to Anunoby’s coveted skillset, it’d be intriguing to see who the Pistons would offer in any package. But with the interested teams only rising, Detroit would need to make their offer stand out.
With most players now being trade eligible after Dec. 15, rumors are bound to heat up as executives begin to see where their teams are at. The Raptors will have no shortage of suitors, it is up to them to negotiate the best deal possible.
Toronto seeking Keegan Murray in potential Kings deal
The Sacramento Kings have been connected to Pascal Siakam as they seek to improve in a competitive Western Conference.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, the Raptors starting price for Siakam in any Kings deal is second-year forward Keegan Murray.
