It has been an up-and-down beginning to the 2023-24 season for the Toronto Raptors at a record of 6-7.
However, the Raptors bounced back after their loss on Friday against the Boston Celtics. They played the Detroit Pistons, who were on a 10-game losing streak heading into Sunday.
Toronto wasted no time making this Detroit’s 11th straight loss, ultimately winning 142-113. The Raptors finished their homestand 2-2 and now head out for a quick two-game road trip.
But, before the team went out on the road, rookie Gradey Dick celebrated his birthday after Sunday’s win. Dick turns 20-years-old today, Nov. 20, and he has quickly become a fan favorite in Toronto.
Dick and some teammates were seen at Pai, a Thai restaurant that is popular for celebrities, but now seems to be popular for Raptors players:
The rookie talked a bit about his experience at Pai to celebrate his 20th birthday, via Josh Elliott of Narcity:
“That’s been one of my favourites so far. And just getting to meet the owner (Jeff Regular) and his wife (Chef Nuit Regular), I think that was super special.”
Dick was joined by a couple of teammates for his early birthday dinner. Christian Koloko, Precious Achiuwa, O.G. Anunoby and Scottie Barnes were there to celebrate with the rookie.
Despite being in Toronto for only a couple of months, it has taken no time for Gradey to become a household name in the city.
Dick has become the face of multiple marketing campaigns since being drafted this summer. Now, he has partnered with Gillette, as this serves as even more exposure for the guard.
While it has been a rough beginning to the year, shooting-wise for the rookie, expect Dick’s confidence to grow as the season progresses.
Next up for the Raptors
After Toronto’s four-game homestand, they are heading out on the road for two tough games.
First up is an In-Season Tournament game against the Orlando Magic on Nov. 21, who are currently 8-5.
Then they take on a young, explosive Indiana Pacers team on Nov. 22, who are 7-5.
