Everything came together for the Raptors in their dominant road win against the Dallas Mavericks.
Pascal Siakam had a bounce back performance scoring 31 points, O.G. Anunoby continues to shine with 26 points and Scottie Barnes nearly had a triple-double as he hauled in 14 rebounds.
A pleasant surprise in this one was Toronto’s bench production. The Raptors bench has virtually been a non factor so far this season but their second unit finished this game with 34 points.
Leading the second unit was Malchi Flynn who has had a shaky start to the season to say the least.
Darko Rajakovic continues to ride with Flynn and has shown him tremendous patience even during his struggles.
Against the Mavericks, Flynn had his best outing of the season. Flynn finished with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 15 minutes of play.
He hit two big three-pointers, had zero turnovers and he was a net positive on the floor.
With Flynn out on the court against Dallas, it seemed like the whole bench did their job.
Defensively, Flynn was pesky and made Kyrie Irving work for his points. Flynn has not yet lost his place in the rotation and a breakout game in Dallas is exactly what he needed for his confidence.
If Flynn plays like this consistently, Toronto won’t need to address their backup point guard problem. For as much criticism Flynn has received this season he deserves his praise here.
Flynn will look to build off this solid performance when the Raptors take on the Boston Celtics on Nov. 11 to conclude their four game road trip.
Raptors get impressive win in Dallas
The last time the Raptors beat the Mavericks on their home floor was in 2019.
Toronto was impressive on both sides of the ball in this one. They dominated inside of the paint finishing with 71 points. Someone who made up most of those points in the paint was Siakam who was playing at an All-Star level.
Toronto is 4-4 through 8 games this season.
